อัลนิแลม เป็นดาวดวงกลางของเข็มขัดนายพรานในกลุ่มดาวที่อยู่ในแนวเส้นศูนย์สูตรฟ้าของกลุ่มดาวนายพราน มีว่า ε Orionis ซึ่งเป็นของ Epsilon Orionis และย่อเป็น Epsilon Ori หรือ ε Ori ดาวดวงนี้เป็นดาวยักษ์ใหญ่น้ำเงินที่อยู่ห่างออกไปราว 1,200 ปีแสง คาดว่ามีความสว่างมากกว่าดวงอาทิตย์ถึง 419,600 เท่า และมีมวลมากกว่าดวงอาทิตย์ 40 เท่า
