ฟรานซีส สกอตต์ คีย์ ฟิตซ์เจอรัลด์ หรือ เอฟ. สกอตต์ ฟิตซ์เจอรัลด์ (F.Scott Fitzgerald; ค.ศ. 1896-1940) บุตรชายคนเดียวของครอบครัวชนชั้นกลางที่ร่ำรวยแห่งมินนิโซตา ชื่อเขาตั้งชื่อตามญาติห่างๆ ซึ่งเป็นผู้เขียนเพลงชาติสหรัฐฯ เขาเขียนเรื่องสั้นตีพิมพ์ครั้งแรกเมื่ออายุเพียง 15 ปี เคยเรียนที่มหาวิทยาลัยพรินซ์ตันแต่ไม่จบ จึงสมัครเข้าเป็นทหารเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1917 แต่ตรงข้ามกับเฮมิงเวย์ ฟิตซ์เจอรัลด์ไม่เคยเดินทางไปยังสมรภูมิสงครามในยุโรปและไม่เคยเห็นการสู้รบใดๆ
