แมลงวันสี (อังกฤษ: march flies และ lovebugs) อยู่ในวงศ์ Biobionidae อับดับ Diptera มีประมาณ 780 ชนิดทั่วโลก ขนาดยาว 0.5 -1.1 เซนติเมตร
ชีววิทยา
ตัวหนอนของแมลงวันสีเติบโตในบริเวณหญ้า กินพืชและกินซากโดยกินซากพืชหรือรากพืชที่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่ บางชนิดพบใน (Hardy, 1981). ตัวเต็มวัยของสกุล Plecia และบางชนิดของสกุล Bibio ไม่กินอาหาร แต่ดำรงชีพโดยกินอาหารในระยะตัวหนอนเพียงอย่างเดียว ตัวเต็มวัยมีอายุสั้น บางชนิดของสกุล Plecia (lovebugs) ใช้เวลาส่วนใหญ่ของช่วงตัวเต็มวัยในการจับคู่ผสมพันธุ์ ตัวผู้และตัวเมียบินช้า ๆ โดยส่วนปลายท้องติดกัน และยังคงอยู่อย่างนั้นตลอดเวลาแม้แต่ตอนบิน ตัวเต็มวัยบินเป็นฝูงหลังจากออกจากดักแด้ในระยะเวลาเดียวกัน บางครั้งเป็นจำนวนมหาศาล
