ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพในประเทศอินเดีย ประกอบด้วยส่วนผสมของสายพันธุ์ที่แตกต่างกันของสิ่งมีชีวิต นอกเหนือจากสัตว์เลี้ยงเพื่อการปศุสัตว์ที่สำคัญ อย่างเช่น วัว, ควาย, แพะ, สัตว์ปีก และอูฐ ประเทศอินเดียยังมีความหลากหลายที่น่าอัศจรรย์ของสัตว์พื้นเมืองภายในประเทศ โดยเป็นบ้านของเสือโคร่งเบงกอล, สิงโตอินเดีย, งูเหลือม, , หมาจิ้งจอก, หมี, จระเข้, หมาใน, ลิง, งู, สายพันธุ์แอนทิโลป, สายพันธุ์กระทิง และช้างเอเชีย ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ของภูมิภาคมีอยู่ในกว่า 120 แห่ง, 18 แห่ง, กว่า 500 แห่งทั่วประเทศ ประเทศอินเดียมีความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพในภูมิภาคมากที่สุดในบางส่วน และมีพื้นที่ที่มีความสำคัญเป็นพิเศษด้านความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพสามแห่งจากทั้งหมดที่มีอยู่ 34 แห่งในโลก – หรือเป็นที่ให้พัก – ซึ่งได้แก่แนวเทือกเขากาตตะวันตก, เทือกเขาหิมาลัยตะวันออก และเขตอินเดียและพม่า เนื่องจากประเทศอินเดียเป็นบ้านของสายพันธุ์สัตว์ที่หายากและถูกคุกคามเป็นจำนวนมาก การจัดการความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพภายในประเทศจึงเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นสำหรับการรักษาสายพันธุ์เหล่านี้ ประเทศอินเดียเป็นหนึ่งในสิบเจ็ด โดยอ้างถึงกรณีศึกษาหนึ่ง ประเทศอินเดียกับสิบหกประเทศที่มีความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพอุดมสมบูรณ์ เป็นบ้านพักอาศัยสำหรับความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพของโลกประมาณ 60 ถึง 70  เปอร์เซ็นต์

สัตว์นักล่าที่ใกล้สูญพันธุ์มากที่สุดอันดับต้น ๆ ของประเทศอินเดียปี ค.ศ. 2010 หมาในอยู่ในข่ายของภาวะใกล้สูญพันธุ์ ซึ่งเป็นสายพันธุ์ที่มีสมาชิกน้อยกว่า 2,500 ตัวที่หลงเหลืออยู่ในโลก
