วิลเลียม โอลิเวอร์ สโตน (อังกฤษ: William Oliver Stone) เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 15 กันยายน ค.ศ. 1946 ที่นิวยอร์ก เป็นผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์ชาวอเมริกัน และนักเขียนบท เขาศึกษาที่มหาวิทยาลัยเยล แต่หยุดเรียนเพื่อมาสอนภาษาอังกฤษในเวียดนามใต้ สอนอยู่ 6 เดือนจึงทำงานที่เรือเดินสมุทร ได้เดินทางไปในที่ต่าง ๆ จากนั้นกลับมาเรียนต่อที่เยล แต่ก็ต้องหยุดเรียนโดยเข้ารับใช้ชาติเข้าร่วมกับกองทัพสหรัฐอเมริกา ในสงครามเวียดนาม ตั้งแต่ เมษายน ปี 1967 ถึง พฤศจิกายน ปี 1968 โดยเขาขอปฏิบัติหน้าที่เป็นหน่วยจู่โจม และได้รับมอบหมายให้อยู่หน่วยที่ 25 เขาได้ เหรียญทองแดง กับตัว วี ที่หมายถึงความกล้าหาญ
