งวงช้างทะเล ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์: Argusia argentea หรือ Heliotropium foertherianum เป็นพืชในวงศ์ Boraginaceae เป็นไม้พุ่มลำต้นสีเทา แตกกิ่งจำนวนมาก ทรงพุ่มเป็นครึ่งวงกลม ใบเดี่ยว ออกแน่นที่ปลายกิ่ง ดอกช่อ ออกตามปลายกิ่ง ดอกขนาดเล็ก สีขาวอมเขียว ติดกับก้านช่อเพียงด้านเดียว ก้านดอกอวบน้ำ มีกลิ่นหอมอ่อนๆ ผลเดี่ยวกลม ขนาดเล็ก สีเขียว มีฐานรองดอกหุ้มผลไว้ครึ่งหนึ่ง ผิวเรียบเป็นมัน
การใช้ประโยชน์
เนื้อไม้ใช้ทำเครื่องมือ และใช้เผาถ่าน ทำให้ถูกตัดออกไปจำนวนมาก ประเทศในแถบหมู่เกาะในมหาสมุทรแปซิฟิกใช้เป็นยาแก้พิษจากปลา ในใบมี ซึ่งมีสารที่มีฤทธิ์ยับยั้งไวรัส แบคทีเรียและต้านอนุมูลอิสระ
