Mecoptera (จาก กรีก: mecos = "ยาว", ptera = "ปีก") เป็นอันดับของแมลงในซูเปอร์อันดับ Holometabola ซึ่งมีประมาณ 600 สปีชีส์ใน 9 วงศ์ทั่วโลก แมลงในกลุ่ม Mecoptera มักถูกเรียกว่า แมลงปีกแข็งหางแมงป่อง หลังจากวงศ์ที่ใหญ่ที่สุด ซึ่งเพศผู้มีอวัยวะเพศขยายใหญ่ขึ้นและยกขึ้นเหนือร่างกายที่ดูคล้ายกับเข็มพิษของแมงป่องและมีอีกวงศ์หนึ่งที่เด่นคือ หรือแมลงแขวน ซึ่งมีพิธีกรรมการผสมพันธุ์ที่ซับซ้อน ในการเลือกคู่ที่อาศัยการนำเสนอเหยื่อที่มีคุณภาพจากตัวผู้ วงศ์ที่เล็กกว่าคือแมลงปีกแข็งหิมะ ซึ่งตัวเต็มวัยบางครั้งพบเห็นเดินบนทุ่งหิมะ ในทางตรงกันข้าม สปีชีส์ส่วนใหญ่ในอันดับนี้อาศัยอยู่ในสภาพแวดล้อมชื้นในเขตร้อน
