ประวัติ
การก่อตั้งและชื่อ (1881–1914)
สโมสรฟุตบอลเลย์ตันโอเรียนท์ เดิมมีจุดเริ่มต้นจากกลุ่มสมาชิกของสโมสรคริกเก็ตกลิน ซึ่งหลายคนเป็นอดีตนักเรียนของวิทยาลัยอินดิเพนเดนท์ โฮเมอร์ตัน ซึ่งอยู่ใกล้กับเขตแฮคนีย์ (ปัจจุบันคือวิทยาลัยโฮเมอร์ตันในเคมบริดจ์) จนถึงปัจจุบันยังคงมีการจัดการแข่งขันประจำปีระหว่างสโมสรกับวิทยาลัยแห่งนี้อยู่ ทีมมีการเปลี่ยนชื่อหลายครั้ง โดยเริ่มจากสโมสรคริกเก็ตอีเกิล ในปี 1886 และเปลี่ยนเป็นสโมสรฟุตบอลโอเรียนท์ ในปี 1888
