จุลจิตรกรรมสำหรับหนังสือวิจิตร (อังกฤษ: Miniature (illuminated manuscript)) คำว่า “Miniature” มาจากภาษาละตินว่า “Minium” ที่หมายถึงสารสี “” หรือ “ตะกั่วแดง” (Lead tetroxide) คือหนังสือวิจิตรโบราณหรือจากยุคกลาง หรือ ลายตกแต่งอย่างง่ายๆ ของกฎบัตรที่ตกแต่งด้วยสารสีตะกั่วแดงดังกล่าว การที่ภาพโดยทั่วไปจากยุคกลางมักจะมีขนาดเล็กทำให้สับสนกับจิตรกรรมขนาดเล็กโดยเฉพาะ (portrait miniature) ที่พัฒนามาจากลักษณะการวาดที่มีประวัติคล้ายคลึงกัน
